Revitalizing Markerhaven
In the outdoor museum of the Zuiderzee Museum, you'll find the Markerhaven. This historic harbor from 1900 is complete with authentic ships and buildings that you would once have encountered in harbors along the Zuiderzee. The only thing the harbor was missing was the equally characteristic bustle. Synergique has changed that by adding three experiences.
An interactive harbor course lets parents and children experience together what it takes to be seaworthy. Can you complete all the skipper's tasks? In transport ship 'De Vier Gebroeders', 3D audio brings the life of a skipper's family from 1910 to life through four perspectives. The contemporary perspective is told by a film installation featuring three skipper women: a fisher, a captain and a shipbuilder who show how the sector has changed in 100 years.

“Synergique brought our Marker harbor to life with a presentation in a historic transport ship, a harbor course for children, and stories of maritime women. Their creativity and craftsmanship created a renewed experience that fits our mission to make life around the former Zuiderzee tangible.”
Wim van Koulil - Koper - Presentation Project Leader, Zuiderzeemuseum
All hands on deck!
From hoisting sails to securing ropes: scattered throughout the harbor, hands-on skipper tasks provide insight into the work of a historic harbor.
A day aboard
Among the cargo on the historic barge 'De Vier Gebroeders', a 3D audio experience takes visitors back to 1910 where they experience a day in the life of the Breevaart family.
Four perspectives, one story
Aboard the ship, visitors receive four stories through four headphones, each told from the perspective of a different family member. All stories take place on the same day, run simultaneously with each other and are linked to the lighting and ambient sounds in the ship.
Women in maritime professions
A multi-channel film installation presents a modern perspective through the voices of three women working in the maritime industry today. A fisher, a captain, and a shipbuilder illustrate how the sector has changed over the last 100 years.
