Coke on the Coast
How strong are you?
How strong are you? That's the question we ask young people in Zeeland in 'Coke aan de Kust'; a confronting and educational experience that makes teenagers aware of the temptations and dangers of cocaine trafficking. The game addresses drug crime in the port of Vlissingen through an innovative serious game that vocational students visit in class groups.
Synergique transformed the museum space into a working port with different departments: from container terminal to customs office. Students are assigned a role and get to work, until they are approached by a recruiter. These approaches start friendly but become increasingly threatening. The message is clear: you can only say no once. So: how strong are you?
Immersive port environment
Four realistic port departments together form an immersive space where students collaborate and must trust each other to be able to do their work.
Working in the port
Students check in at the different departments and receive work assignments: from transporting containers to checking security footage.
Temptations
During normal work activities, students are approached by recruiters who come with seemingly innocent tasks, until it becomes clear there's more behind it.
Functional visual language
The design uses the visual language of a real port area: functional iconography, strong color contrasts and warning signs that emphasize the 'zero-trust' principle of port security.
Closer than you thinks
In 'the street' it becomes really clear how drug trafficking is woven into daily life. When the game is completed, the students watch a film together in which victims and ex-criminals tell their personal stories. Finally, they discuss it together in class.
