How Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam can help the Rijksmuseum
The collection of the Rijksmuseum is being digitalised, because it comprises of many more pieces than the museum could ever exhibit at once. All pieces can thus in the future be viewed online. Every year, the museum employees ad 40.000 paintings and prints to the digital collection, however they lack the time to annotate them all.
That’s why they brought in Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. VU Amsterdam created a system for the crowd to help the museum online by adding annotations to digitalised pieces. We showed how this proces works in a partly animated film.
